Gayaza Technical and Skills Development Centre

Gayaza Technical and Skills Development Centre was started in February 2006 to answer a call by the local community and opinion leaders to start a training institution with the main objective of equipping the youth with life skills through vocational and technical education so as to enable them discover their power of creativity and live a meaningful life.

To be a transformational institute that equips youth with rewarding vocational skills that enable them to be employed or self-employed and to live dignified lives.

The courses offered target the youth who are straight out of primary or secondary school, people who are already in the working sector but who need to upgrade

1. TAILORING

2. HAIR DRESSING

REQUIREMENTS: apron red color bought at school-25000, draping gown& hair band-1 each, towels bright colors only-5, set of combs-1set, afro comb & sink comb-1 each, scissors-1, rollers-7pkts, braids-35 (25 short & 10 long), black threads-a pkt of 10, hair food venus big-1, conditioner-1ltr, shampoo-1ltr, tip top vaseline for braiding-4tins, olive oil sheen spray big size-1tin, pink oil big-1tin, leave in treatment medium-1, salon trolley-1

3. ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

REQUIREMENTS: overall bought at school-35000, scientific calculator & set square-1each, tester, tape measure, pliers, helmet, multimeter,hammer, safety boots, PVC cables 1.5mm squred-12mtrs, PVC cables 2.5mm squared-10mtrs, joint boxes-2, 2 gang one way switches-2

4. CATERING

REQUIREMENTS: wheat flour azam or supreme only-4pkts, cooking oil-5ltrs, sugar-5kgs, blue band margarine-1kg, heavy cleaning gloves-1pair, side plates melamine-2, juice glasses (set of 3)-1, mixing bowl (kataasa metallic)-1, salad peeler-1

5. AUTOMOTIVE/MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANICS

REQUIREMENTS: blue overall bought at school-35000, welding rods-1pkt, scientific calculator & set square-1 set each, safety schoes (boots/simple canvas)-1pair

6. EVENTS MANAGEMENT

Awards given at the Centre

Our institution is a Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) certified centre and our students are awarded certificates from the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) on completion of their courses. These awards are recognized by the Ministry of Education.

We also have students who sit for the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board Examinations (UBTEB).

The department for Early Childhood Development is affiliated to Makerere University College of Education and External Studies.
